Launched in April 2017 as a travel retail exclusive, as the same suggest, Laphroaig Four Oak is aged in four different cask types: ex-bourbon barrels, quarter casks, virgin American oak barrels and European oak hogsheads.
Review and Tasting
Sampled on 10/05/2017
Clear, golden amber.
Pungent, smoke, TCP antiseptic and vegetal peatiness with orange peel, tobacco leaf and vanilla.
Vegetal – brussels sprouts, vegetal peaty smoke, buttery tobacco leaf, sandalwood, barbeque charcoal, sea salt and liquorice.
Lightly salty liquorice, coal dust and smoky oak with subtle black pepper spice.
Classic Laphroaig with accompanying peatiness but considering this is a “travel retail exclusive” the bottling strength of 40% alc./vol. may disappoint some travellers looking for more bang per kilo.
