Cinque is brewed with five different grains: barley, rye, wheat, maize and rice. Hops include aromatic French Strisselpalt hops.
Cinque derives its name from the Norman-French word meaning five (pronounced ‘sink’) and is a tribute to the brewer’s (Shepherd Neame) home town of Faversham, a member of the confederation of Cinque Ports. Cinque Ports were established in the 12th century to maintain ships ready to defend the coast from foreign invaders.
