Released in January 2018, Elephant Aged Gin is a blend of gins matured in three different types of oak cask for a year. The initial limited edition was made with a rye pot-distilled base spirit and Elephant Gin’s usual 14 botanicals.

Due to the vintage statement on this release reflecting the year of bottling, bottles with both 2017 and 2018 age statements were produced as part of the same batch due to their being bottled a couple of weeks apart in late December 2017 and early January 2018.

Appearance:

(sample bottle 2017 vintage bot 41/1000) Clear, golden amber.

Toasted oak, piney juniper, vanilla, clove, cracked black pepper, lemon oil and faint mint.

Taste:

Spicy and piney juniper with clove, nutty angelica, spicy coriander and light lemony freshness.

Overall:

Spicy and toasty, this aged gin is much better structured and balanced than many of the other aged gins we’ve encountered.
