The Best Halloween Cocktails to Serve on Oct 31st image 1

Time to mix up some spirituous cocktails and indulge in a bit of hocus pocus.

Costumes, candies and carved out pumpkins, Halloween these days is kitsch as all hell and pretty fun. But eyeballs floating in bowls of green punch and spiders crawling up the side of a cocktail - that gets a big, fat NO. Just because it's Halloween don't thrown away your discerning tastes - instead mix up the following drinks which are devilishly good and ghoulishly named.

Halloween Cocktails

CORPSE REVIVER NO.4

DEVIL'S SOUL
With: Rye whiskey, mezcal, Averna amaro, Aperol and elderflower liqueur.
We say: Spirituous, smoky and bittersweet - just like Lucifer - this cocktail is short and evil.

SUCCULENT BLOOD
With: Mezcal, blood orange juice, cinnamon syrup and falernum.
We say: Sweet spice is backed up by aromatic mezcal and vibrant bloody orange juice.

ZOMBIE
With: Three types of rum, falernum, pernod anise, pineapple juice, lime juice, grapefruit juice and grenadine.
We say: Powerful, funky and spicy, and sometimes served on fire, these are far more dangerous than your average revived corpse.

BITCHES BREW COCKTAIL
With: Byrrh, genever, vodka and IPA beer.
We say: Byrrh on beer, only a bitch (Babe In Total Control of Herself) could have dreamt this up. Made to poison men, obvs.

DEATH IN THE AFTERNOON
With: Absinthe, Champagne and sugar.
We say: In its original form, this mix of champagne and absinthe would put hair on any person's chest. As sneaky as a poltergeist, this fizzy drink sounds sweet but it's dangerous in quantity.

DEVIL'S SHARE
With: Ginger, bourbon, orange juice, lemon juice and maple syrup.
We say: You'd think the devil rarely shares, but if this is his idea of a communal good time, we're signing over our souls. Ginger spice, bourbon and citrus - it's definitely tastier dining with the devil.

BLOODY NEGRONI
With: Gin, blood orange juice, Campari and sweet vermouth.
We say: Add a refreshing tang to your Negroni with some blood....... wait for it....... orange juice.

EL DIABLO
With: Tequila, creme de cassis, lime juice and ginger beer.
We say: The devil by any other name. There's a lot of bold flavours in this long tequila cocktail with berry and ginger but it somehow works sublimely.

PINK WITCH
With: Gin, strega liqueur and grapefruit juice.
We say: The SJP equivalent of a cocktail in Hocus Pocus, this super simple gin, strega and grapefruit combo loves to hop around, eat spiders and flirt with mortal men

OBITUARY
With: Gin, dry vermouth and absinthe.
We say: What a way to go - drinking a cold dry Martini with a dash of the green fairy.

DEVIL'S MARGARITA
With: Tequila, lime juice, sugar syrup and claret wine.
We say: Turns out the devil gets all the good drinks. Sip your Margarita through a layer of dark red wine (tastes great - trust us). It looks ghoulish but is absolutely delicious.

HOCUS POCUS
With: Gin, sweet vermouth, orange curacao liqueur and Fernet Branca.
We say: Bittersweat, herbal and zesty freshness - it's not quite magic but tastes devine.

BLOOD SAGE
With: Gin, lime juice, sage leaves, blood orange juice, sugar syrup and egg white.
We say: Burning sage is meant to rid the house of bad spirits (or lingering exs) but we think that's wasteful. Muddle it up and serve it in a cocktail instead.

THE DEVIL IN ME
With: Cognac, chili pepper liqueur, plum wine, maraschino liqueur and chocolate bitters.
We say: Plum wine, chili and cognac make for a powerful sipper. Politely ask the devil to get out, and relax with one of these. Not today devil.

BEETLE JEUSE
With: Bison grass vodka, Green Chartreuse, pressed apple juice, mint leaves and passion fruit syrup.

BLACK MAGIC NO.2
With: Montenegro amaro, Islay single malt whisky, creme de banane and saline solution.
We say: Not shy on flavours, we're talking two parts amaro to one part Islay whisky, it's the creme de banane that softens this dark art into balanced and tasty drink.

DEVIL'S HORN
With: Rum, cranberry juice, honey syrup, chilis, raspberries and lime juice.
We say: Chilli spice for heat, berry for freshness and the cutest little devil horns you ever saw perching on the rim of a glass.
