Augusto Reina, the former CEO of Illva Saronno Holding, sadly passed away on 19 February 2020, at the age of 79.
"We are proud of our past yet we are equally aware we must look ahead, for our tomorrow entails both great opportunities and great responsibilities." Words, the company commented in a statement, that capture the heart and soul of a man in love with his work.
Born on 11 June 1940 in Saronno, in the Italian province of Varese, Augusto Reina was a "great innovator" and "outstanding industrialist" who transformed the family-run company into a global business. Perhaps best known for its liqueur brand Disaronno, the Illva Saronno portfolio also includes Tia Maria, Zucca Rabarbaro and Artic Vodka.
Since August of 2019, the Reina family entrusted the running of the business to the executive management team. The company concluded their statement with reflection on the future, noting the Reina family and management team will carry forward Augusto's work, with passion, an innovative spirit, a sense of courage and optimism which "set Augusto Reina in a class all of his own."
