This excellent riff on a Vieux Carre makes me wonder if many Manhattan variants can be "blackened" with Averna and made even more enjoyable.

I made this because I wanted to make a Vieux Carre, but I didn’t want to open a new bottle of sweet vermouth. It is good, I made it with Amaro Nonino since that’s what I had. I do miss having the vermouth and a Vieux Carre.
