1930 – What we now know today as Avèze liqueur trademarked as ‘Auvergne Gentiane’.
1938 – Reached sales of 20,000 litres per year.
1948-1950 – A 16% alc./vol. version of Avèze is developed with more sugar in the formula (now 15% alc./vol.).
1960 – On 1st April, Auvergne gentian was acquired by the Martini Group, via St Raphael SA and George Refouvelet, son of the creator, is entrusted with overseeing production at Riom-ès-Montagnes.
1962 – The original ‘Auvergne Gentian’ trademark was abandoned in favour of the present name, Avèze, and at the same time a new bottle and livery was launched.
1991 – Bacardi takes over Martini and Avèze becomes a subsidiary of Bacardi-Martini.
1994 – The Espace Avèze visitor centre is opened, attracting 2,259 visitors from 19 July to 11 September.
2000 – Avèze is sold to Boisset Wines & Spirits based in Nuits-Saint-Georges.
2009 – On March 2 Avèze parts from Boisset and one again becomes an independent company, Avèze SAS with its head office at 5 rue de la Gentian, Riom-ès-Montagnes.
