I finally made this using Pierre Ferrand Ambre, delicious if almost bone dry at times.
New to cocktails but Death and Co uses PF Amber and Dry Curaçao but adds 5 ml of simple to offset the dry a little and add body.
Interesting play of Spice(Rye), sweet(rye and Cassis) and Bitter (Compari). Rye is the king here so chose wisely. Might play with ratios a little and swap the bitters.
Found this to be a bit boozy as formulated but truly enjoyed the accord between cassis and rye spice - certainly not something I would've ever thought to try.
