Russky Standart (aka Russian Standard) was created in 1998 by the Russian multi billionaire Roustam Tariko who is also the owner of Russia's biggest consumer credit company. Russian Standard is made at a new $60 million distillery on the outskirts of Saint Petersburg from Russian wheat.
Russky Standart (Pyccкий Cтaидapт) is distilled to the Tsar's premium quality standard of 1894, as set by Professor Dmitri Mendeleev, and the bottle references that date, and carries Mendeleev's signature. The bottle's shape is inspired by the 200 tonne bell commissioned by Tsarina Anna which stands at the foot of the Ivan, the Great Bell Tower in Moscow.
Russky Standart is filtered once through charcoal and once through quartz crystal.

Crystal clear.
Clean, wafts of wheat and white pepper spice.
Underlying sweetness smooths what could otherwise be a slightly jagged palate with sweet white bread crust, aggressive black pepper spice and hints of hints of aniseed.
Peppery but clean finish.
