Philip Schulz and Pät Barten opened Kleines Phi (Small Phi) on 30 May 2015. It was a momentous day for these talented bartenders, as it is not only their first bar, but a bar where they and their friends made everything. With concrete tables the look is industrial but also has the feel of a modern art instillation. Check out the precision with which the orange braded flex of the hanging Edison filament lightbulbs is strung over the bar.
A floor to ceiling glass frontage opens up to allow drinkers to spill out onto the large front terrace in the summer months. There's also a cosy backyard. In winter let the dark walled interior envelop you.
This is a neighbourhood bar with regulars drawn by the quality of house cocktails served in jam jars, such as the Beetroot Mezcalita - basically a beetroot mezcal margarita served over the rocks with dried beetroot chips. Rum, tequila and mezcal heavily influence the menu with a very good spirits selection displayed on wooden wine box-like shelving behind the bar. Also homemade.
