Review

This is a proper bar goers bar - big and slightly brash with the pool table vying with the DJ for attention, but for Christ sake don't start dancing - it's not that kind of joint.

Blackbird is an American bar personified - not only because it's big - the DJ booth alone is larger than some British bars - it's the barn-like look of the place, mix of office workers and locals and the drinks offering. It's not just American - it's Miami, so naturally there's also an open-air cinema come stage with another bar out back on the equally huge terrace.

Inside the huge island bar occupies the centre of the room with booth seating running down one side and the other side housing the pool table and enough standing space for a posse of drinkers.

Beer and shots are the order of the day but a little over a dozen cocktails are on offer and you'll be surprised just how good they are. Indeed, the Blackbird has its own "Edible Wall and produce garden" were they grow our own lemons, limes, strawberries, oranges, basil cilantro and mint.
