Review

Take the lift from outside Waitrose and emerge in a lively and modern, all-glass walled bar and restaurant. There'll be suits-a-plenty (this is Canary Wharf) knocking back champagne and having slightly loud guffawing conversations which compete with the noise from the open kitchen, but there's a pleasant-enough lounge area with low-slung seats and table service if you're just drinking. A furious jazz soundtrack sets the tone.

Cigars precede a cocktail list that leads with classics, which are well executed and nicely garnished. Headings of Contemporary, Champagne Cocktails, After-Dinner Cocktails and Premium Cocktails complete the list, which tends towards fruity, largely crowd-pleasing flavours. For those with more spirituous tastes, there are barrel-aged Negronis and Manhattans aging in small oak casks on the bar-top. There are 23 wines by the glass and a champagne selection as befits a lofty establishment frequented by city types.
