Part of the Mews of Mayfair group of restaurants that straddle the narrow pedestrian alley that's grandly named Lancashire Court and runs parallel to New Bond Street, Cartizze is a distinctly upmarket Venetian-influenced Bellini and cocktail bar.

Cartizze takes its name from the 1,000 foot high vineyards, considered by many to produce the best quality Prosecco with both the land and wines produced there accordingly commanding a premium price. Fittingly, especially given its Mayfair location, this bar's interior is suitably swanky with dip-dyed oak panelling, brass detailing, plush soft lilac and blue leather covered seating and a Nero Marquina marble fireplace.

Appropriately, the cocktail menu kicks off with a Sgroppino cocktail - a Venetian speciality with limoncello sorbet, lemon verbena liqueur and prosecco. The Venetian theme continues with a Blood Orange Bellini and our favourite cocktail on the list, the Amor Y Amargo (with amaretto, cynar, apricot liqueur, lemon, egg white, vanilla sugar and prosecco). We also enjoyed the barrel aged cocktails - indeed all the cocktails we've sampled at Cartizze have been well-balanced and delicious.

Given its location off New Bond Street, Cartizze is a great place to drop into after an early evening's retail therapy and in true Italian style offers some very tasty snacks and plates as an aperitivo to tide you over till dinner. And if your credit card is still up to the punishment, Cartizze offer a collection of fine and rare spirits dating back to the 1800s.
