The first international opening for long-established NYC speakeasy Employees Only sits handily near to Jigger & Pony on Amoy Street and comes as close as is humanly possible to replicating the original, right down to the floor plan, pressed tin ceiling and space for a fortune teller in the entrance.
The kitchen turns out moreish, meaty bar snacks and meals, from steak tartare through to bacon-wrapped lamb chops and bone marrow poppers; the drinks menu majors on classic cocktails given their own unique Employees Only twist (the rye Manhattan is to die for).
For the June 2016 opening, swathes of the New York crew have moved over and taken up residence in Singapore. That means Steve Schneider is in situ behind the bar, while Igor Hadzismajlovic is overseeing operations. Like the original, it's hard to fault, and reservations are a must.
