Review

Slated to open late 2018, this fine dining establishment brings together the dream team of bartenders Chris Hannah (Arnaud's French 75) and Nick Detrich (Cane & Table) with business partner John Stubbs to revive what was "one of the great bars in the history of New Orleans". Owned by Joseph Santini after his stint at the New Orleans City Exchange, the Jewel of the South, was the first to serve gumbo and is said to have been the birthplace of the Brandy Crusta.

The new Jewel Of The South will be set in a 2200 square foot Creole Cottage dating back to 1830 over two floors with a lush tropical courtyard. The centrepiece will be a 19th century antique backbar that after its 100 years of service in London travelled across the Atlantic to Washington were it remained for the next 50 years.
