Tweed would perhaps be more appropriately named Tartan as this is the cloth that lines the walls and bar front of this atmospherically lit, old-school cosy gentleman's club-like restaurant bar. The bar, and indeed the Victory Hotel in general, has something of a nautical theme with ships, lamps, model ships and ships' figureheads dotting the walls and glass cabinets on the route from the restaurant's lobby to the similarly appointed bar.
The nautical theme extends into the cocktails with ingredients such as smoked sea salt, sea corral and foams. The leather-bound cocktail menu is also suitably traditional, but the cocktails are modern, mostly riffs on classics.
A tall glass-fronted freezer and thee fridges dominate the small back bar to ensure the wide range of vermouths, vodkas and other delights are held at optimal serving temperature. Housed above these and on the shelves to the right of the bar is one of the best spirits selections in Sweden extending beyond whiskies to mezcal, gin and rum. Not to mention a wine cellar with 15,000 bottles across some 2,800 wines.
Bar food comes from, Djuret, the sister restaurant next door with anything from snacks and triple fried fries to burgers and steak tartar.
If visiting at the weekend then you are advised to make a reservation by phone or the bar's website.
