A short taxi drive out of the town centre is Rose Tower - a traditionally Barcelonan style house which has been gutted, and transformed into an enormous bar.
This isn't your typical, louche cocktail lounge - there are pin ball machines, darts and plasma televisions throughout the bar. Torre Rosa is, however, a seriously cocktail joint...just one that's quite good at disguising it.
In keeping with the social club vibe, the menu didn't look great at first glance - four pages of brightly coloured cocktails with exotic garnishes. The drinks were, however, expertly made in an impressively casual fashion, and we were left feeling a little silly for our initial judgements.
The bar back was vast, with lots of quality spirits displayed in sloping bottle racks, and there was beer on tap at the bar too. As well as spanning over two floors, the bar had an enormous, heated seating area, so there's plenty of room to accommodating big gatherings.
A great bar that shouldn't be underestimated. Although it might not have that inherent Barcelonan sophistication, this is the kind of place where you'd struggle to have a bad night.
