Review

Named after the 'quods' (grass squares) in the centres of Oxford's colleges, this restaurant and bar is in a prime position on Oxford's High Street. The beautiful brickwork, pretty arched windows and modern art make it a tempting place to meander into if you fancy anything from a quiet bite to eat, a full-on supper, or a drink at the island bar. It's always got a lot of customers regardless of the time of day with a lively brasserie feel.

A beautiful 'quod' of its own, (at least a rather nice outdoor seating area out back) makes this a decent spot particularly in warmer weather.

The zinc-topped island bar sits to one side of the large room. We'd been warned to expect G&Ts served with crushed ice, but our last experience fared rather better. The drinks list is promising, running from genuine old school drinks to modern classics and the bartending is competent if not polished.
