Review

With their own oyster farm owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, the Wright Brothers are the foremost wholesalers of oysters in London. This is one of the three London oyster bars operated by the brothers and the chalkboards here usually offer a choice of over a dozen different varieties of oyster.

The bar stretches down one wall and across the back of the room where the chefs work in the cramped open kitchen. Sit either at the narrow wooden bar counter or at one of the two communal high tables which seat eight. The décor is warehouse-like with exposed brickwork and industrial lighting.

Along with the wide oyster selection dishes include: potted shrimp, beef Guinness and oyster pie, devilled whitebait and Cornish dressed crab. The 'Oyster & Porter name' is lived up to with a choice 8 stouts and porters by the bottle with Guinness and Meantime stout on draught. Champagne is obviously well catered with the oyster theme and the wine list boasts 23 wines by the glass with beers and eau de vie.

You may have to wait a while as a walk-in so it's advisable to book and reserve your space in this bustling little restaurant.
