Review

Portside Parlour is a specialist rum bar in the East End, showcasing some 80 rums from around the globe. Establishing itself on Rivington St, this ex-pop up from Broadway Market has matured into a permanent fixture in the Shoreditch scene.

The venue is on the smaller side, and rather than a dark hidden den as it was in its previous incarnation, this site feels much more open and light. It boasts a long bar at which to perch are a comfortable row of booth seating.

Rums from across the Caribbean and South America are available, then there's the cocktails which range from the seriously boozy to light and refreshing, mostly featuring rum but not all. The bar has certainly expanded its list of 'other' spirits.

We must confess to having liked the pop up more, this site feels a little clinical and you have to order a plate of food thanks to licensing restrictions. However this bar is and relaxed and with laid-back table service from charismatic staff, it's not exactly like being in Jamaica but hey, there's plenty of rum.
