Located in the bohemian barrio of Gràcia in Barcelona, this address has been a neighbourhood bar for over 60 years, but was taken stratospherically upmarket when Dean Shury took over the place in 2018 and reopened it as a cocktail bar.
Despite the refurbishment, with its white marble counter and dark wood, 14 De La Rosa retains the feel of a charming decades-old classic cocktail bar. The bar area is small and intimate, and beyond, twin ship-like doorways reveal a back room.
Dean is an ex-London bartender with experience in some of the city's top bars, and he is still often found, resplendent in a white jacket, behind his own bar. The excellent cocktails served here are classic in style, and while sherry is not big in Barcelona, it features in most of 14 De La Rosa's cocktails. Be sure to try the delicious Adonis, elevated with a mist of orange blossom water, inspired by the trees on the street.
