One of the few places in the city which feels more like an London pub than a Vancouver restaurant-bar the Pourhouse offers a pitch-perfect drinking experience. On the upper dais a chatty all-ages crowd sprawl in the squashy leather booth seating and comfy couches, but drinks fans should take one of the 30 seats at the handsome 100-year old Douglas Fir bar which runs almost the entire length of the room to admire the team of waistcoated bartenders efficiently delivering an impressively high volume of classic cocktails to the crowds.
The short and simple list changes seasonally with a 50/50 split between well-known and brand-new creations. However, unlike most bars in the city you'll not find much in the way of infusions or home-made ingredients here; instead the Pourhouse specialises in consistently well-made, spirit-forward classics. You can enjoy a more relaxed vibe by visiting early afternoon, when you can order Dealer's Choice and see where the bar team take you. It's also worth mentioning that city burger fans tip the Pourhouse's as one of the best in town.
