Review

Lying on a pedestrian street in the central touristy area, the twin floors of Njoy have a club-like atmosphere with 1970s disco funk and soul playing a volume which demands shouty conversation.

At weekends the dimly lit rooms are packed with style seekers sat cheek by jowl at high tables. Try to score a seat at the upstairs bar rather than brave the steep staircase down to the tunnel-like basement which is reminiscent of a blinged up railway carriage.

The book-like cocktail menu lists drinks under chapter headings such as The Alchemist, The Trendsetter, The Dreamer, The Connoisseur, The Sparkling Star and The Virgin, intended to help you find a drink to suit your personality. All err towards the fruity and sweet side with a handful of 'gentleman's drinks' standing out from the crowd. That said they make a point of telling you that they are happy to make any classic cocktail when they hand you the menu.

The bartenders here have to be admired for their skill and speed but you have to be in a clubby mood to Njoy the experience.
