Until 1947, Tanqueray was sold in many different shaped bottles. The design we recognise today was inspired by a 1920s range of Tanqueray pre-mixed cocktails sold in bottles designed to resemble a cocktail shaker.
The 'Special Dry' name formerly applied to this "Export Strength" Tanqueray was introduced in 1950 but was dropped from the label 2011-2012.
Sampled on 18/06/2013
Crystal clear.
Pine fresh juniper with subtle zesty lemon, faint rootyness and black pepper prickle.
Clean and pine fresh with juniper bursting forth, closely followed by lemon zest, coriander and rooty notes. The 47.3% strength contributes enlivening cracked black pepper spirity notes.
Beautifully balanced and elegant with light peppery notes and lingering piny juniper.
