Prounounced 'Ap-Ost-O-Less' this Palo Cortado is part of the González Byass 'Very Rare Solera' range. Made from Palomino Fino grapes aged in a Solera created in honour of her Majesty Queen Isabel II of Spain, when she visited the company's bodegas in 1862.

Best drunk chilled with rich pates, foie gras and cold meats.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 18/02/2017

Appearance:

Clear, deep amber.

Aroma:

Fried fruit - dates, prunes and plump sultanas with light cinnamon.

Taste:

Honeyed and yet on the dry side with (62 grams of sugar per litre), this Palo Cortado is wonderfully complex with acidity balancing sweetness. Hints of butterscotch, salty crème caramel, walnut and toffee.

Aftertaste:

Dried fruit sweetness (particularly dates).

Overall:

Served cold, as it should be, this wonderful sherry is refreshing on a hot day and warming on a cold one. My favourite of all the González Byass Very Rare range.
