Launched in the 1990's as a partnership between a distiller (William Grant) and an urban music label, Roc-A-Fella Records, co-founded by hip hop moguls Damon 'Dame' Dash, Kareem 'Biggs' Burke and Shawn Carter (aka Jay-Z).
Kareem 'Biggs' Burke chose the vodka's name, apparently, after seeing Armadale Castle on the Scottish island of Skye.
Armadale is distilled from wheat and barley by a three column process at William Grant's Girvan distillery in Scotland. The clear bottle features a black banner wrapped horizontally around it, and a small red plaid tartan design.
