This ninth addition to the ‘Cellar Collection’ of limited edition vintage whiskies was released in January 2012. Bottled in August 2011, this 1980 Glenlivet is drawn from three first-fill American oak casks which were moved to finish their maturation in Glenlivet’s warehouse ‘No. 1’.
Only 500 individually numbered bottles of this non chill-filtered, cask strength malt were released, with just 27 bottles earmarked for sale in the UK.
Review and Tasting
Sampled on 07/01/2012
Appearance:
Clear, light golden.
Aroma:
Succulent fruity fresh pear (flesh and skin) and blackcurrant nose with gingerbread, linseed and faint peppermint.
Taste:
Vivacious palate is a veritable oiled oak rimmed fruit bowl with wood and fruit in perfect harmony, freshened by a slap of fresh mint.
Aftertaste:
Spiced pear flavours linger on the luxuriously long finish.
