This grappa has a very distinctive flavour due to their using spirit distilled from the red grape pomace of Merlot, Cabernet and Pinot Noir. These single-variety spirits are aged separately in 4 different oaks and cherry wood for 18-24 months then blended together.

Created by Robert Castagner and Luciano Brotto, they say, the percentage of each grape variety from each kind of barrel changes each time and it is down to the skill of the blender to replicate Terreblu’s very individual flavour.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 09/09/2012

Appearance:

Clear, pale golden amber.

Aroma:

Oily mackerel pate and kippers with distinct smokiness. Toast, balsawood and tobacco leaf.

Taste:

Retains smoked kipper notes with a meaty smokiness but smooth and elegant with red fruit flavours, particularly cherry and plum. Light spiciness.

Aftertaste:

Notes reminiscent of dark chocolate, espresso and rolling tobacco. Fades with more kippers.
