An ale from the brew house of the oldest inhabited house in Scotland, the microbrewery uses malt from Muntons in Suffolk, East Kent Golding hops and water from an underground spring on their estate. The ale is fermented in oak for 7 days and then matured in cold storage. Read more

Appearance

Dark, almost black mahogany with thin foamy off-white head and spotted lacing.

Aroma

Caramel, sherry, blackened fruitcake and overripe fruit with liquorice.

Taste

Vinous, heavily roasted malts with burnt raison, charcoal, earthy hops and underlying bitterness.

Aftertaste

Burnt toast, liquorice and lingering piney hops.
