broVo is named after makers Erin Brophy and Mhairi Voelsgen and Amaro No.1 is the first in their range of amari made according to recipes contributed by Seattle bartenders, in this case John Ueding. This rhubarb based amaro is in the style of a gran classico.
Voelsgen and Brophy originally set out to make a rhubarb liqueur but after literally using a ton of rhubarb they were not happy with the result but thinking that Ramazzotti and Zucca, both famous amari, have rhubarb flavouring they decided to try producing an amaro and asked bartenders for recipe ideas.
Bottled in limited, numbered editions, tall hand-labelled rectangular bottles carry a quote from the relevant bartender, John's is, "your bartenderis not your therapist."
