As tradition dictates a cat makes an appearance on the label of this Old Tom Gin which also follows the classic old tom style with generous sweetening liquorice root. Cotswolds says, "this is balanced with light spice from the ginger, zesty orange citrus and rounded off with a hint of cardamom."

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 09/11/2019

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Piney juniper with liquorice root, clean hamster cage-like angelica and faint stewed cucumber.

Taste:

Slightly sweet. Ginger and cardamom spice somewhat overwhelms other botanicals.

Aftertaste:

Liquorice is more evident in the spicy finish.

Overall:

A distinctly spicy old tom with powerful notes of ginger and cardamom. It only has 3 grams per litre of sugar but sweet botanicals boost the perception of sweetness.
