Review and Tasting

Sampled on 02/08/2010

Appearance:

Clear, golden amber with burnished copper highlights.

Aroma:

Lightly spicy, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg and mace – the spice notes are more subdued than in Bénédictine D.O.M.

Taste:

Silky, lightly spiced and dryer than D.O.M. but still on the sweet side, although far from cloyingly so. The warmth of the alcohol on the palate subtly lifts warm saffron, ginger, cardamom, clove and particularly gingerbread spice notes, with citrus being far less apparent than in D.O.M.

Aftertaste:

Gingerbread, fudge and vanilla dominate the satisfying warming finish which I find strangely reminiscent of sucking new leather.
