Review and Tasting

Sampled on 10/10/2016

Appearance:

Clear, golden amber.

Aroma:

Barley water, toffee apple, celery, walnuts and burnt currants and cigarette ash. With water, apple and roasted pineapple and biscuity vanilla.

Taste:

Spicy apple and cedar with burnt currants and sultanas. This is a powerful dry malt that needs water, even then it’s still spicy but with a barley sweetness.

Aftertaste:

Peppery spice and barley water with ash and toasted cedar.

Overall:

A light whisky weighed down with heavy burnt raisiny European oak and enlivening peppery spice. This is far from being a crowd pleaser but is a very interesting Glenkinchie bottling.
