Released each year and available throughout November and December, Goose Island’s Christmas Ale is brewed with Pale, Munich and Caramel malts but the hop varieties used are changed for every new festive season.
Sampled on 24/12/2014
(sample 2012 vintage, best before 11-May-12) Cloudy, deep, chestnut reddy-brown with thin off-white head and spotted lacing.
Brown bread, molases, pine hops, toasted malts and mocha coffee.
Toasted bready malt, bitter spruce hops, mocha coffee and clove spice.
Bitter spruce needle, toasted nutty malt with nutmeg and cloves. A big beer with a high alcohol content, but balanced and surprisingly quaffable.
