Review

This bastion of molecular mixology originally followed a speakeasy theme with no name outside but a branded canopy is now something of a giveaway. Although we note bar bills are still from "The Bar With No Name Ltd."

Inside there is space for less than forty so if trekking across London specially, you are still advised to ring ahead and reserve your spot.

The underwhelming two-tone interior has something of a 1950s Italian cafe-style with eight green enamelled industrial lamps strung spider-like from the ceiling. Red upholstered upright dining chairs line the old wooden bar and the perimeter of the room so patrons sit cheek by jowl.

This bar is notable due to it being owned and run by Tony Conigliaro, bartender extraordinaire and molecular mixologist. It's rare to find Tony behind the stick these days, but the very talented bar crew make consistently great drinks, delivered with equally attentive service.

Many of the ingredients used in the cocktails are made in the purpose built laboratory upstairs using molecular techniques. This is best displayed in the bar's signature Prairie Oyster cocktail made with a tomato yolk, horseradish vodka, Oloroso sherry, shallots, pepper sauce, celery salt and garnished with an oyster leaf micro herb.
