A medium dry madeira is made from a blend of wines with an average age of 10 years, maturation in seasoned oak casks in the traditional 'Canteiro' system. After ageing, the madeira is fined before bottling, so there is no need to decant.
Released in 2024, Blandy's new edition 10-year-old range was created by award-winning winemaker, Francisco Albuquerque, and is made using traditional techniques combined with detailed knowledge on how each varietal evolves in the company's 12 different ageing rooms in two very different locations – The Blandy's Wine Lodge in Funchal and the Winery in Caniçal. The wines for this range are aged in very specific locations to benefit from the optimal conditions for each varietal.
Verdelho vines are grown on the north of the island of Madeira, in Porto Moniz, Santana and São Vicente, and in the south in Calheta and Funchal.
The grapes are harvested manually and then undergo pellicular maceration, followed by a 6-8 day fermentation with natural yeast at temperatures between 18°C - 21°C in temperature-controlled tanks. Fortification arrests fermentation at the desired degree of sweetness.
Serve chilled. Pairs well with hard-aged cheeses.

Clear, golden amber.
Candied and dried fruit, particularly currants, figs and dates. Leathery oak with walnut and delicate clove and cinnamon.
Medium dry with honeyed dried fruit, particularly apricot, balanced by acidity. Light cinnamon-led spice.
The fresh acidic finish brilliantly prepares the palate for the next sip.
Perfectly balanced, this is a perfect example of a ten-year-old Verdelho.
