Appropriately named due to being made in the historic Chatham Dockyard, Dockyard Chatham Dry Gin is distilled with 9 botanicals: juniper berries, locally sourced elderflower, coriander seeds, Spanish orange and Italian lemon peels, green cardamom, grains of paradise, angelica root and orris root.

The distillery also produced their own base neutral grain spirit.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 15/09/2017

Appearance:

(sample bottle N0. 2534, batch 03) Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Overripe banana and piney juniper, cardamom, black pepper and zesty citrus with faint sage and nutty balsawood.

Taste:

Piney juniper, nutty/woody overripe banana and freshening citrus with cardamom and black pepper spice.

Aftertaste:

Cleansing, piney juniper and light spice with faint overripe banana.

Overall:

Most gins express their all-important juniper content as a pine fresh aroma and flavour. Some also have an attractive overripe banana fruitiness. Dockyard is one of those gins.
