Milder and sweeter than the famous Green Chartreuse, Yellow Chartreuse was introduced in 1838 when the Chartreuse formula was adapted by Brother Bruno Jacquet to produce a more approachable version of the classic green elixir.
Like Chartreuse Verte, Chartreuse Jaune is presented in the traditional Chartreuse liqueur bottle embossed with the seal of La Grande Chartreuse. Its colour is entirely natural with no artificial flavours or preservatives.
Review and Tasting
Sampled on 22/01/2016
Appearance:
Clear, marigold yellow with hints of green.
Aroma:
Mocha coffee and dark chocolate with angelica, spruce needles, peppermint, aniseed and tarragon.
Taste:
Mellow, honeyed sweetness and minty freshness with rootyness, zesty citrus and pine needles.
Aftertaste:
Incredibly fresh breath finish. Peppermint, spearmint, mocha coffee, lime zest, gentian, anise and cracked black pepper.
Overall:
One of the great classic liqueurs, Yellow Chartreuse has a huge, enveloping, honey sweet and minty fresh palate with herbal complexity.
