The First Glow of Christmas

The First Glow of Christmas by Grace Lui
  • Bartender: Grace Lui

Serve in

Coupe glass

Garnish:

Serve the cocktail with a clean, unadorned surface, allowing the suspended gold shimmer to create its own soft festive glow. No citrus oils or fruit garnish are added, preserving the purity of the cherry-forward aroma and gentle holiday spice. A small gingerbread man shortbread is presented on the side as a festive accompaniment - a light seasonal bite that enhances the Christmas experience without altering the cocktail's balance.

How to make:

Add Heering Cherry Liqueur, Woodford Reserve Rye, fino sherry, fresh lemon juice, Monin Gingerbread Syrup, and honey syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake firmly to chill and aerate the mixture, then fine-strain into a chilled Nick & Nora or small coupe glass. Sprinkle a very small pinch of edible gold shimmer directly into the cocktail, then give the glass one or two gentle stirs to create a warm, glowing sparkle throughout the drink - a visual cue to the first festive lights of Christmas.

1 1/3 fl oz Heering Cherry Liqueur
2/3 fl oz Woodford Reserve Straight Rye
1/3 fl oz Fino sherry
1/2 fl oz Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
1/3 fl oz Monin Gingerbread Syrup
1/12 fl oz Honey syrup (3 parts honey to 1 water by weight)
1 pinch Edible gold glitter
