Perhaps best to pour lemonade into the shaker (after shaking) and then strain, or pour lemonade at the same time as straining. I've amended above accordingly.

Apologies Simon, I should have been more specific. I was meaning it was way too sweet. Hence I split the soda and lemonade.

Sorry. Now all makes sense, and your cutting with soda sounds like the way to go.
