I'd love to be able to make this to the original spec but Creme Yvette seems to no longer be available. Is it still being made? I used violet liqueur and I really thought something was missing. Maybe muddle some strawberries and blackberries in or something?

A friend just made some following this recipe - I have yet to sample. They used the purple Sweet Violets. https://www.alewyfe.com/how-to-make-creme-de-violettes-liqueur/

Sadly, it looks like Crème Yvette is again in need of revival.

I feel the Creme de Violette is a mistake. The description mentions berry fruit, and as far as I can tell none of the ingredients have fruit in their flavor profile. Also, the bright pink color in the photo is not possible with the purple Violette. It makes a dark grey-purple cocktail. I feel this drink was meant to be made with a Chambord, or other berry cordial/liqueur, maybe Creme de Cassis?

Many thanks for making me aware of a long-term error. My original notes from the day we photographed this cocktail on 23 August 2010 reveal that it should be me with Crème Yvette liqueur, the next liqueur to Crème Yvette Violete in the drop menu that controls our recipe pages. That would explain colour, etc., and I’ve now corrected.
