I was originally going to start this review aa "I don't really understand the bad reviews. The bourbon, Benedictine and chocolate liqueur (I used a dark one, though) goes pretty well together, and then the Tabasco just adds some chili and vinegar to keep things interesting. It's good, far better than the reviews say. In my taste it's maybe a 4.1?"
Then I read that it was one *drop*, not one dash, of Tabasco. That honestly makes a huge difference. The fiery Tabasco is what makes the cocktail live up to its name! I can definitely see how just one drop would make it underwhelming. One dash makes it feel like you're drinking the potion of an Aztec god or something.
I rolled the dice and went for two drops!
On the sweet side but…occasionally that’s okay. The Benedictine and Creme de Cacao work well together, the Bourbon holds it in place and there is a touch (possibly) of heat on the finish. Next time 4 drops.
