I found the original recipe slightly underwhelming - not bad by any means, just not lining up with my personal preferences. I lengthened it with 1 Oz. of Lillet Blanc and that made for a pretty decent aperitif.
Definitely grew on me with each sip. The pepper bite seems essential. Used Tito's and homemade basic lavender syrup. I wonder if adding a little citric acid (as in the Monin brand) would help the syrup pop a little more. At any rate, surprisingly moreish.
