It is a good cocktail, yet to my palate, the rye whiskey is still too strong and the other components are not felt strong enough.
I recommend to cut the rye whiskey a bit to make the other herbal, fruity and tropical ingredients to shine a bit better.
Received my Tiki Bitters this week so could not wait to make this and it's absolutely wonderful. As I make a lot of tiki cocktails I'll probably use those bitters for them. I'll have too because the bottle has a lot of quantity, I'll be gone before it's half way through... 😁😢. Good job I have two bars so I can share.
Excellent rye Manhattan variation. The small amounts of Chartreuse and Heering add interesting (and complementary) herbal and fruit complexity to the Manhattan without overwhelming or oversweetening the basic cocktail it's built upon, esp. if you increase the rye a bit.
I thought this was just going to be a Manhattan with a slightly herbal component but no, the Chartreuse brings out the mint and herbal notes from the rye which takes it in a different direction. The cherry and the Tiki bitters are also a nice touch, keeping it in the Manhattan realm yet different enough. Really nice drink.
