I liked this drink as written, although I didn’t have the exact brands of gin and limoncello called for. In Mr. Boston book, a similar drink is listed as “The Lemony Snicket Cocktail” and calls for 2-1:2 gin and a 1/2 oz each of limoncello, yellow Chartreuse, and fresh lemon juice.

Thanks, I'll be sure to try, but it's not in the Mr. Boston editions I have, the latest being 1978. What edition and publication date is your Mr Boston?

Nice cocktail but IMHO it lacks depth. I tried saline solution and then some drops umami bitters, but the result was only slightly better.

Nice drink but you need to make sure that you add some of the Maraschino cherry syrup with the cherry otherwise it needs about 15ml of simple syrup.
