Laphraoig 10 and monkey shoulder. Seriously if you have the ingredients, try this! Glorious rich malt and peaty scotch goodness. No oranges to hand so a tiny dash of orange bitters over the top served nicely.
Shout out here to the Difford’s guide book: thanks to old fashioned, serendipitous browsing i.e. random page flipping, found this which i otherwise would not have. Proper night cap material, i used chivas regal, talisker 12 and carpano. Delish!
Holding back the carpano to 25ml gave room for the whiskies, and bitters for that matter, to shine. Second version with Monkey shoulder and talisker was very nice!
A more restrained Smok’n Rib Roy though personally, 8 drops of Abbott’s Bitters is too much. I would either go for a dash of Angostura or 4 drops…but that’s just me.
