First name(s): Tess
Last/Family name: Posthumus
Originally from: Amsterdam
Tess Posthumus studied Media & Culture at the University of Amsterdam and completed her Sociology Masters in 2014. During her studies, Tess worked in the hospitality industry where she fell in love with the wonderful world of mixology. Since 2009, she has worked at one of the best bars in the world: Door 74 in Amsterdam. Her talent hasn’t gone unnoticed, as Tess won several national and international competitions and awards.
Nowadays, Tess still works at Door 74 and turned this side job into a professional career and travels around the world as a freelance hospitality professional. The recent months she visited Paris and London as a guest bartender, participated in a commercial as a competition judge in Milan and she was in Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Russia to give seminars and workshops.
But a cocktail scene is also developing in the Netherlands. Tess is hired for events, develops signature cocktails and menus and organises her own food pairing events. You can follow the adventures of Tess on her blog where she writes about her experiences, interviews other bartenders, and updates you on her genever research.
