London to Lima Spirits was established by Alex James, who graduated from Edinburgh University with an BEng in Mechanical Engineering and then served in the army as a Captain in the Household Cavalry before moving to Peru in search of adventure with his wife Karena, two young children, a Jack Russell, and a Portuguese copper still.

Alex's wife and partner in the distillery, Karena de Lecaros James, is Peruvian but grew up mostly in London speaks several languages and worked in global marketing. She now markets the gin Alex makes. Their gin's name reflects their journey from London to Peru.

Their 400 litre Portuguese copper pot still is aptly named Endeavour and Alex has adapted this to make both pisco and for gin distillation.
