Established in 1850 by Carlo Gancia with the foundation of his first cellar in Canelli, the Fratelli Gancia Company is best-known for its production of sparkling wine. Gancia also has a reputation for its Bianco vermouth and claims to have made "The first ever vermouth bianco in the world."

The company owns 30 hectares of its own vineyards and controls 2,000 hectares for the production of red and white Piedmontese wines. Fratelli Gancia & C. Spa remains 100% owned and run by the Gancia family with members of the fifth generation now involved in the production and marketing of a full range of sparkling wines and aperitifs.
