We made it with Cynar 70 (we only use the 70 because it is stronger and more bitter) and Four Square Sovereignty rum and it was intense and cigar-y as billed, but interesting enough for a non-smoker to enjoy.
We were out of sweet vermouth and subbed Amaro Montenegro. It was delicious! Looking forward to trying it with different Amari or even Becherovka.
